Hey guys,

First off I haven't been around much for a long time, short story is I've bought a hotel and am in the process of renovating it - lots of work.

However I'm going to try to get some new edits on here now and then a bit more often and also shoot through some old stuff too.  This leads me to the second part of this post:

Some of you may have noticed a bit of a change in style and "level of nudity" in some of my more recent posts and so I thought I'd pop a few words down to explain.

Over the coarse of my career I've pretty much totally stayed away from shooting anything explicit, erotic or sexual in nature, I've preferred to concentrate on capturing beauty, I still do.  However from time to time with certain models and shoots that seemed, inclined to it, I've stretched my creative muscles a bit and tried pushing the boundaries a little into some racier territory.  Almost all of this work has never been seen before by eyes other than my own, a small part of it under an alias but most of it never seen even by my closest friends.  (artists are like that)

Reason is it doesn't necessarily follow my own personal vision of what I'm trying to achieve with my art however on the flip side it seems to me to be a bit hypocritical to say "art nudes are fine, but explicit nudes aren't".  One man's porn is another's art and all that.

In any case it's all been part of my creative growth and exploration and the fact that it still makes me (VERY) uncomfortable to show it probably means it's an important thing to do so.

I'll let you guys be the judge of whether I should keep posting/editing more of this type of work or just keep with my more traditional fields.

Hope you all are doing fantastically,

Cheers,
- Ben

Ben Heys passed away some weeks ago in a motorbike accident in Cambodia. This is very sad news, since he was such a brilliant photographer, a man full of plans and such a kind human being. Rest in peace!

do you know who retains the copyrights to his work?  is it possible to still license the rights?

philosophical question ~ how does one use commercial intellectual property from someone who is deceased?
