Hey guys,
Long time no journal update here, and sparse photo updates too I know. Sorry about that. Had my focus on other matters. But I'm trying to focus more on my photography now, and in the immediate future and as part of that I gave my folio site a complete makeover. So have a look:
[link]I'm a bit unsure what to do about the homepage as I do like the look of the blog, which currently sits as the homepage but it doesn't look as professional as it might. That theme I bought does come with some gorgeous in built full page slideshows for the homepage but the problem is SEO. A slideshow and no text is shithouse for SEO and I've worked hard to get my site up to page 5 of google now for "photography' page 1 is in my sights and with it all of that traffic and a good (and well needed) increase to my income by way of amazon affiliate sales and google advertising clicks. I'm probably going to outsource a new page template from a freelance designer, one that allows me to insert a large slider at the top of the homepage followed by the blog under that.
Also I took this opportunity to re-write one of my most popular article (or actually a set of 3 articles) that I wrote back when benheys.com was a brand new blog and still hosted on squarespace. It's about how I've gone about making a living as a stock photographer, my own way - without having to deal with customers or clients or editors or shoot what other people want me to shoot. It's been a good ride and although not all of it is positive I cover both sides of the coin, so if you have ever thought about selling your work as stock or just making a bit more money on the side from your photography then give it a read, there's lots of info there, from an honest and inside perspective to sink your teeth into, enjoy:

"Beck In The Snow" is wonderful!
